About Us

Hale Pua is owned and powered by kānaka ʻōiwi, Shauna Keānuenueokekoʻolau Kahiapo from Koʻolaupoko on Oʻahu. She along with her partner, Jason, a Native of the Ojibwe tribe in Canada, and their keiki run Hale Pua as their ʻohana business from Kāneʻohe.

Shauna is also an attorney and graduated from the William S Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa with certificates in Native Hawaiian Law and Environmental Law. Her first love is for the lāhui and has worked pro bono defending kiaʻi of Mauna a Wakea, Kalaeloa, and Hūnānāniho and on various other kānaka/ʻāina matters.

When they are not in the shop, you can find them tending to their kuleana ʻāina in Kaʻalaea Valley where they are restoring the land to ʻāina momona, thriving and abundant with native meaʻai and habitat for native species. They also spend their time together surfing, dirt biking, snowboarding, and everything in between.

Every purchase helps to support their ʻāina vision and is very appreciated!
